The certifications offered suit test-takers with different skill levels and refer to various technical areas, such as Security, Collaboration, Design, Service Provider, CyberOps, Data Center, DevNet, and Enterprise. The whole accreditation process falls into five levels such as

  • Entry for students or enthusiasts interested in networking careers. (CCT Data Center, CCT Collaboration, CCT Routing & Switching)
  • Associate for those wishing to improve and confirm basic networking skills, as well as learn the latest technology (CCNA, DevNet Associate, CyberOps Associate).
  • Professional for those who have already decided on the main technical direction and are in search of a narrower specialization on the way to networking expertise (CCNP Collaboration, CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, etc).
  • Expert for professionals ready to prove their advanced skills and knowledge not only in the exam but also in practice in the laboratory (CCIE Service Provider, DevNet Expert, CCDE).
  • Specialist-levelfor aspiring advanced candidates seeking a successful career in narrow networking domains. (Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist, Cisco and NetApp FlexPod Design Specialist).

As for the required exams under these accreditations, they are administered by Pearson VUE and can be taken either at an authorized testing center or remotely online. At the associate level, you are to pass only one exam, thus, for the CCNA designation, you should sit for the 200-301 exam. At the professional level, you need to pass two exams, and referring to the expert level, candidates have to succeed in one exam and a Lab. Such an approachhelps assess the candidate's expertise not only in basic technology but also in specific areas.
